Errors and warnings only occur when a student has tested and the test has been submitted, but an automated check indicates a problem with the data. Errors and warnings include information about the data problems that triggered the error or warning. Errors must be fixed for the test to be processed by the system for scoring and reporting. Warnings should be fixed, but do not stop the test from being processed.

When student testing warnings or errors exist, the flag at the top of any non-task page will change colors to notify you from

for no errors or warnings to

when errors or warnings are present.

The solutions are different depending on whether you have errors or warnings.

View and Fix Errors

Errors indicate data problems that will cause the test to be rejected, meaning the test cannot be processed with the data in its current state.

To resolve errors, follow these steps:

  1. Click the flag to reveal a list, then select Student Errors to be taken to Testing > Rejected Student Tests.

  2. Follow the directions at Fix Rejected Student Test Details.

View and Fix Warnings

Warnings will allow a test to be processed, but still indicate missing or problematic data.

To view and resolve warnings, follow these steps:

  1. Click the flag to reveal a list, then select Student Critical Warnings or Student Warnings to be taken to Setup > Students, with the appropriate warning filter already selected so that the appropriate set of student records are displayed.

The filters at Setup > Students may be different for your testing program than what is shown here, but will work the same way.

  2. In the list of students at Setup > Students, students with warnings will have an indicator that includes a number, informing you of the number of issues found with that student's record. Click the information icon.

  3. In the student information, click Test Administration Registration, which displays the same warning indicator.
  4. Scroll through the information to find the specific details for each warning.

  5. How you fix warnings will differ, depending on why the warning exists. Because these warnings are related to test administration registration, to fix them select the student from the list in Setup > Students and then edit the student's registration by selecting Register Students from the task list and clicking Start.

  6. View and edit the student's registration. The number of warnings are listed at the right, and when you scroll down the page, the issues are highlighted.

And further down the page, the missing selection is highlighted along with a warning message.

  7. Click Save.

Related Information

Each warning and error provides a description of the problem so that you know what must be done to fix the data.

Here is a description of the three categories of warnings and errors:

Student Errors

These records contain data that either cannot be matched or that contain invalid data that cannot be saved.

These must be resolved before the record can be processed.

Student Critical Warnings

These records should be examined for completeness and validity. You should prioritize fixing these warnings.

These are things you should resolve, but if you do not, the record can still be processed. Testing program policy determines whether you are required to resolve these.
