Customers using OS X versions 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9on iMacs (2008 and older) have experienced an issue in which students click icons in the Dock, causing TestNav to close.
What does this mean?
Customers can avoid encountering this issue by automatically hiding the Dock to avoid interruptions in their testing sessions. Customers can choose from the methods below to auto-hide the Dock.
What do I need to do (and how do I do it)?
Determine whether iMacs (2008 and older) are affected.
Click the Apple icon > About This Mac.
The About this Mac dialog appears, and you see the year under iMac and the version number next to Software.
For affected iMacs, choose a method below, depending on with the computers are managed or unmanaged.
Managed iMacs
For managed iMacs you can hide the Dock through your centralized management software. Below, you can see instructions for two commonly used products, Profile Manager and Casper.
If you are using Profile Manager:
Click Users > Settings.
Under Settings for Administrator, click Edit.
Click Dock, then click Configure.
Select Automatically hide and show the Dock.
If you are using Casper:
Click Computers > Managed Preferences > Dock > Hiding.
Select the True radio button.
Unmanaged iMacs
To hide the Dock on unmanaged iMacs, the administrator should complete the following instructions only on impacted computers. These instructions are ideal for small labs.
Click the Apple icon > System Preferences...
Click Dock, and select Automatically hide and show the Dock.
Alternate Method
You can also use the following shortcut: Press Option + Command + D on the keyboard to auto hide the Dock on individual iMacs.
