To use TestNav for your online testing sessions, you should first review System Requirements.
Then, determine which option you will use for testing:
You can navigate support pages in order by task or quickly search for your topic in the search box at the top-right. You can also disclose sections within a page, as needed.

After you review TestNav 8 requirements, you can use the next sections to set up your testing environment for both Browser-based TestNav and Installable TestNav.

Requirements and procedures differ based on the devices your organization uses for online testing, as well as the versions currently installed on these devices.

Browser-based TestNav versus Installable TestNav

During an online testing session, you can administer your online tests using either browser-based TestNav, installable TestNav or a combination of both. Below is a quick list of differences between the two options.

    • Access your test by typing the test-specific URL into browser address bar.

    Please do not make any unnecessary technology changes during an online testing administration, including applying software patches. Browser-based TestNav users cannot delay dependency updates, like Java versions that Oracle requires. These updates are beyond Pearson's control; however, we make software updates as soon as possible, if a forced dependency update causes problems with TestNav.

    After you set up TestNav, use your assessment management system to:

    • Pre-cache test content, after you download and install ProctorCache.
    • Set backup save locations for student responses.

    • Obtain logins for your testing session

    Specific thin client and virtualization vendors have gone through the TestNav Qualification program to qualify their products to work with TestNav. For more information on the qualified products, go to testnavqualified.com. No other thin client and desktop and tablet virtualization solutions are qualified for online testing
