This page describes how to unlock or lock a test.

Tests with Multiple Sections

Depending on your program, you may have a test with multiple tests or sections. Some programs refer to these sections as units. These sections are delivered to students as individual tests, but the test is treated as a whole for scoring and reporting. 

After starting a test session, you can unlock or lock a test (or sections of a test) for students in that test session.

Unlock a Test

When you start a test session, the student test (and test sections) are locked.

You can unlock a test two ways:

To unlock a test/section, follow these steps: 

  1. From Testing > Students in Sessions, select a session from the Session List and click Start Session
  2. Slide the lock icon to unlock the test.

Unlock a Test or Test Section for a Student

To unlock a test/section for a student(s), follow these steps: 

  1. From Testing > Students in Sessions, select a session from the Session List
  2.  Click Start Session, or select an In Progress session.

    If you add a student to a started and unlocked session, the added student test is locked.

  3. Select a student with Ready status. Click the drop-down arrow on the status button and select Unlock.

When a test session is In Progress and students are testing, some student tests (or test sections) is unlocked.

You can lock the test two ways:

To lock a test/section, follow these steps: 

  1. From Testing > Students in Sessions, select a session from the Session List and click Start Session
  2. Slide the lock icon to a lock the test.

Lock a Test or Test Section for a Student

To lock a test/section for a student(s), follow these steps: 

  1. From Testing > Students in Sessions, select a session from the Session List
  2.  Click Start Session, or select an In Progress session.

  3. Select a student with Ready status. Click the drop-down arrow on the status button and select Lock.

Unlock All or Lock All Tests

A combination of locked and unlocked tests (or test sections) indicates a test is in Mixed state. You can select Unlock All or Lock All from the drop-down to make the section available or unavailable to all students within that session.
