Once logged in, the student can choose a prompt and start writing.


Join a Class and Choose a Prompt

Once signed in to WriteUp!, students join a class by entering a code provided by the teacher. They can then select a prompt. 


  1. Once signed into WriteUp!, the student enters the code provided by the teacher and selects Join.


  2. The class is displayed in the My Classrooms section.


  3. As directed by their teachers, student can select from the grades available to them and choose a prompt. (Availability of prompts will vary.)






SUBMIT & REVIEW FEEDBACK by clicking “Analyze my Response”

 In seconds you'll get detailed feedback on four writing areas:

  • Prompt Task: How well you answered the prompt
  • Development of Opinion: Your use of evidence and reasoning

    · Organization: How you structured your writing

    · Language Use: Your word choice and sentence variety

    What the Feedback Looks Like:

    · Visual bars showing Approaching | Meets | Exceeds for each area

    · Specific praise (e.g., "Great job taking a clear position!")

    · Helpful suggestions (e.g., "Try adding more details from the passage")

    REVISION LOOP

    · Click "Show in essay" to see highlighted areas needing work

    · Improve your response based upon the feedback

    · We are asking Pilot Participants to do at least one revision round and generate the next set of feedback on the revised essay
