The Enable TTS for Current Testing Session is a permissioned action that allows a proctor to temporarily enable the Text-to-Speech (TTS) accommodation for a student during an active test session. This setting applies only to the student's current testing session and does not permanently change the student's accommodation profile.
Prerequisites
Before enabling TTS:
The assessment must support the Text-to-Speech (TTS) accommodation.
The Enable TTS for Current Testing Session action must be available for the test administration.
The student must be assigned to your proctor group.
Approval to provide the accommodation must be obtained according to state, district, or program testing policies.
When to Use This Feature
You may need to enable TTS for the current testing session when:
A student's approved TTS accommodation was not assigned before testing began.
An accommodation assignment issue is identified during a testing session.
A testing administrator authorizes TTS for the student during the current session.
Find the student who needs TTS enabled, then select the toggle in theTTScolumn to enable or disable TTS. A window appears to confirm your action; select OK.
Confirm the action when prompted.
The change takes effect for the student's current test session.
Classic User Interface:
Updated User Interface:
The student may need to refresh their browser or log out of the lockdown browser (getreseated) and log back into the test to see the TTS player.
Search for the student, and then click theEditicon for that student.
Click theAccommodationstab, then check theText To Speechbox for each relevant profile.
SelectSave. It may take up to 30 minutes for changes to accommodations to appear in an Administration (test session).
Important Notes
This action affects only the current testing session.
Enabling TTS does not permanently update the student's accommodation record.
If the student requires TTS for future test sessions, update the student's accommodation settings in ADAM according to your organization's procedures.
Always verify that enabling TTS complies with applicable testing policies before making the change.
Verify the Accommodation
After enabling TTS, confirm that the accommodation is reflected in the student's session and that the student can access Text-to-Speech functionality as expected.
